Where We Started

In June 2018 Blake was almost 5 years old and was showing unusual signs of fatigue, bruising and pinpoint spots of discoloration on his tummy. After a blood draw analysis from his pediatrician , Blake made his first visit to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) on Wednesday June 13, 2018. Blake was admitted with a low white blood cell count and was diagnosed with T-Cell acute lymphoblastic Leukemia (T-ALL). Because of the severity of his low white blood cell count and the presence of a tumor over his heart, chemotherapy treatment began a few short hours later.

Where We Are Now

The amazing team of doctors and nurses at CHLA immediately gave our family a strong sense of security, hope and compassion which enabled us to look forward and start the fight to beat leukemia. Blake’s battle continued for 3.5 years with chemotherapy, blood transfusions, weeks in the hospital and hundreds of doctor visits.  But now because of the oncology team at CHLA, Blake  is completely finished with his treatment and is a thriving child capable of living a life cancer free.

The King family is also involved with CHLA in other ways, Patton King, Blake’s sister has volunteered her time the past three years with MRIs and cognitive tests to compare her development to Blake’s in order to collect data on the effects of chemotherapy on cognitive thinking, memory and behavior.

Children around the country raise money and awareness for Pediatric cancer through bake sales, lemonade stands and other events throughout the year.

Our mission is to raise awareness and funding for pediatric leukemia in order to give back to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA), the hospital that saved Blake and so many other children. The donations raised are used to help provide resources and tools for doctors in their quest to develop new paths of treatment and to support patients in the toughest battle of their lives. We want to help other children beat cancer and find a cure.

Even though Blake’s treatment is complete and he has been cured of his leukemia, each year The Blake King Corp will select a different division of CHLA to donate to as this hospital is an amazing source of hope for so many people and we were so blessed to have it in our back yard of Los Angeles. Thank you all for your support, emotionally and financially. You are making a difference for so many children and families.
